Genesis and Evolution of the AIA Scholarship Program
In this series of blog posts, we continue to understand the secondary scholarship program, last week we introduced to you the program in our interview with Ms. Christine Olal, Action in Africa’s very own Education Specialist. Now we tell you the story of how it all started and the changes we have made over time.
Education Specialist on the Scholarship Program Transforming Uganda
Mrs. Christine Jane Olal is an education specialist that recently joined AIA’s Team in Nakuwadde. As a specialist, Mrs. Christine has special insight into how education in Uganda is structured and how it should be improved. In an interview with Christine, we talk about education in Uganda and the AIA scholarship program, here is her take on the Scholarship program and how it impacts the People in Nakuwadde.
Zoom into AIA's After-School Program
Hey there! In case you missed it, on the 17th of September Action in Africa (AIA) hosted its Third Quarterly Summit on Zoom. The summit was focused on the AIA After-school program and staff at the center spoke about the different activities that take place. Thanks to everyone that attended, and if you didn't, here is a rundown of everything that you missed. You can also watch the recording here on AIA’s youtube channel.
Empowering Nakuwadde: AIA's Professional Panel Inspires Dreams
Our greatest mission has always been and continues to be empowering the people of Nakuwadde. Our programs are tailored to be a reflection of the community and the people in that community. This year, we started an end-of-holiday program that we call the AIA professional panel. The one-day event invites role models and community icons that have backgrounds similar to those of the people living in Nakuwadde. As we ended the second term school holiday program on Friday 26th August, we hosted the second Professional Panel event at our center where we invited former AIA salsa dance trainer and current professional Dancer Valentino Richard Kabenge (Val), Dr. Elizabeth from Alive Medical services, Ivan Bossa a Coffee Entrepreneur, and TV personalist Ibrahim Kawuki commonly known as Teacher Teacher.
AIA's Lifesaving Mission: Bringing Free Medical Care to Ugandans in Need
Access to basic medical services is a major challenge in many Ugandan communities, therefore Action in Africa occasionally organizes a medical outreach program that provides the said services to the people in Nakuwadde at zero cost.
On Saturday, August 27th, the Action in Africa (AIA) gates were wide open by 9 am with tents poised and medical workers bustling and getting ready to receive anybody that sought their services.

The Latest and Greatest from Uganda! 🌍🎉
I just returned from a three-week visit to Uganda and it was a whirlwind trip. This was the first time I'd been back since June of 2021 - and even that was a brief visit due to Uganda going back into another COVID lockdown. It was great to be back on the ground with the AIA team and to see our community center operating at full speed!
