Action in Africa FAQs

What is Action in Africa, and how does it help local communities?

Action in Africa is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Ugandan communities through access to education, health initiatives, and sustainable development programs all conducted through community centers. Our focus is on providing resources and opportunities to improve the quality of life for children and families in East Africa.

How can I sponsor a child or community through Action in Africa?

Since our inception in 2006, we’ve learned that scholarships make a more meaningful impact on children’s lives. By donating to our scholarship fund, you’re directly supporting the education and well-being of children in need through long-lasting, positive change.

What educational programs does Action in Africa offer?

Our organization focuses on partnering with well-established private schools. We offer student scholarships from early childhood into university graduation. Our community centers offer teacher training workshops and curriculums, after-school programs for children to attend daily, and continuing education classes for adults. All programs, including access to our public library on-site, are community-led and developed to equip everyone with essential skills and knowledge to help them succeed in their personal and professional lives.

Is Action in Africa a good charity?

We strive to maintain full transparency and humility in every action we take. Our efforts have earned us an Excellence in Giving Award, a Gold Transparency Candid Award, and a Great Nonprofits Top-Rated Award.

How does Action in Africa ensure the sustainability of its programs?

We prioritize sustainable development by working closely with local leaders and community members. Our programs are designed with the goal of long-term self-sufficiency, ensuring that the communities we serve can continue to thrive independently.

Where does my donation go?

Transparency is important to us. We allocate donations directly towards our ongoing programs and administrative costs are primarily by earmarked gifts, allowing donor dollars to go toward creating educational and healthcare opportunities for underserved communities in east Africa.

How can businesses partner with Action in Africa?

Businesses looking to make a difference can partner with us through corporate sponsorships, employee volunteer programs, and matching donations. Corporate partnerships allow us to expand our reach and create a bigger impact.

What areas in Africa does Action in Africa serve?

We have operated a community center in Nakuwadde, Uganda for the past decade, serving the children and families in that region. To expand our services to another underserved region of Uganda, we have secured a plot of land in Sentema, and we’re building a second community center.
