Journey to University: Tricia

My name is Nambogo Tricia, and I am one of the five Action in Africa University Scholarship Students of the 2024 cohort. I started coming to The Center during my primary seven school break. I can’t remember all the experiences but I remember lunch time, when we got the tastiest cup of porridge. From then onwards, Action in Africa has become like my second home, where I now have many siblings and parents. I have now just completed a three month professional internship at The Center, and I am very excited that I am going to start my university education this month studying for a Bachelor's in International Business at Makerere University Business School.

Back to the internship program, I remember my first day like it was yesterday. I was nervous, unsure of what to expect, but eager to learn and absorb every opportunity that came my way. Action in Africa welcomed me with open arms, providing me with a comprehensive internship program that focused on skills and professionalism. The program was designed to challenge me, to push me out of my comfort zone, and to help me grow both personally and, more importantly, professionally.

Over the past few months, we had sessions on communication, teamwork, and leadership. We worked on projects that challenged us to think creatively, to develop problem-solving skills, and to collaborate with others. I am amazed at how much I have grown, how much I have learned, and how much I have achieved. I am proud of the person I have become, and I know that I owe it all to Action in Africa especially the staff members who have supported me every step of the way.

As I prepare to leave for university, I feel grateful for the experience. The organization has given me a solid foundation to build upon, and I know that I will carry the lessons learned with me for the rest of my career. I know I will face new challenges, obstacles, and opportunities, but I am ready. I am ready to take on the world, to make a difference, and to leave a lasting impact.

Action in Africa will always be a part of me, and I will carry its spirit with me wherever I go. I will carry the values, principles, and mission with me, and I will strive to make a difference in everything I do. I will strive to be a leader, an innovator, and a game-changer. I will strive to be a force for good and to leave a lasting impact on the world.

Since I am opting for international business, my dream is to get a job that is on a global basis so that I can explore different cultures and countries. I am also interested in learning new norms and cultures, for example, different languages and cultural beliefs. I believe in myself that I can connect to different countries business-wise. And I believe in using opportunities when they knock on your day because opportunity comes once in a lifetime.

I will strive to make a difference in everything I do. I will strive to be a leader, an innovator, and a game-changer. I will strive to be a force for good and to leave a lasting impact on the world.
