MARCH 2020
AT ACTION IN AFRICA

First and foremost, we hope this email finds you safe and in good health. As our global community continues to grapple with the unexpected COVID-19 health pandemic, we've been forced to approach the year in ways we didn't anticipate. As you know, our work typically serves to foster educational opportunities for the women and children of Nakuwadde, and supporting emergency aid isn't something we normally do. However, nothing about this situation is normal and we feel we have a moral obligation to provide help - and hope - to the best of our ability. We've temporarily directed our focus towards urgent action so that we can serve the most vulnerable in the Nakuwadde community.

Our team continues to work from home, and their dedication to helping those in need is truly remarkable. We have developed a communication-tree to keep everyone at AIA informed about the state of affairs in Uganda. In accordance with the Ugandan Government Guidelines, we are working in partnership with a local soap maker and Nakuwadde-based grocery store to support the local economy while also helping the community gain access to the life-saving resources they need to stay healthy and nourished during quarantine. So far, we have provided 26 families, more than 140 people, with quarantine kits designed to support them for up to two weeks. We will continue to work together to identify the most vulnerable and meet their needs as quickly as possible. Thank you for all you've done to help during these unprecedented times. We will keep you in the loop as our plans and strategy continue to evolve.

On a different note, below you'll see a link to our 2019 Annual Report. We realize that sharing our annual report amidst the COVID-19 pandemic might seem untimely, yet we hope you find it heartening to join us in reflecting on the great work we did last year. We eagerly look forward to the days when we can safely reopen our community center and continue our life-changing work.
As always, it is an honor to have you on this journey with us! Thank you for your commitment to helping us provide life-changing resources for the people of Nakuwadde, Uganda.

Gratefully,
Sarah Elizabeth Nininger

SHOP SMALL & SUPPORT AIA

We are thrilled to share that we have partnered with our friends Taylor & Tessier, to support Action In Africa during the COVID-19 global health crisis. Taylor & Tessier is a small jewelry company based in Aspen, Colorado, and together we have designed a selection of pieces (like the one pictured), to support life-saving Quarantine Kits AIA is distributing in Uganda. Not only do these make the perfect Mother's Day gift, we believe it's vital to support one another during these trying times and every purchase does just that by helping Action In Africa's work in Uganda, and a local family business.
