Action in Africa (AIA) is undergoing rapid growth, marking a pivotal moment in its history. In response to this growth, AIA recognizes the need to strengthen its ICT training and support systems. This will ensure that students and community members are equipped with the digital skills necessary to thrive in a technology-driven environment and support the organization’s scalability and innovation.
Job Summary
The Technology Program’s Coordinator will play a key role in enhancing the digital skills of Action in Africa’s staff, students, and community members. This position involves conducting needs assessments, developing curricula, delivering training sessions, and monitoring ICT training programs while providing IT support and ensuring the effective use of technology to achieve organizational goals.
Reports to: Education Department Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Training & Capacity Building
Design and deliver training programs that lead to improved user proficiency and competence in utilizing IT systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Monday.com) for scholarship students, interns, AIA staff, and community beneficiaries.
Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions to encourage the adoption of technology in day-to-day activities.
Program Development & Execution
Coordinate ICT-focused initiatives like after-school programs, community training sessions, and digital campaigns.
Collaborate with the education team to integrate ICT into the curriculum and extracurricular programs.
Lead the implementation of innovative ICT projects, such as e-learning platforms and online resource hubs.
Work closely with the Education Department Manager to plan and prepare annual technology budgets and oversee expenditures
IT Support & Maintenance
Provide first-line IT support for staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Coordinate the repair and maintenance of IT equipment.
Ensure timely software updates and security patches to protect organizational data.
Reporting & Monitoring
Track the progress of ICT training programs and students’ progress in Monday.com and submit periodic reports to the Education Department Manager.
Monitor the effectiveness of implemented technologies in achieving organizational objectives.
Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to refine and improve innovative training approaches.
Document challenges, best practices, and success stories for future reference.
Partnership Development
Identify and collaborate with external organizations, vendors, and trainers to enhance ICT initiatives.
Stay updated on technological trends and recommend innovations that align with the organization’s mission.
Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to foster positive relationships between the community members and AIA in line with training and capacity building.
Any other duties as and when assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years experience in ICT training or a similar role.
Written and spoken fluency in English; working proficiency in Luganda.
Strong Technology Background: mastery of basic and intermediate computer and technology skills and and and understanding of technological advances and training techniques
Creative and Innovative: Ability to think outside of the box when developing ways to deliver programs
Strong Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning Experience
Self-driven and Motivated: Demonstrating initiative and commitment to tasks.
Data-driven: An aptitude for collecting data and using it to measure results and improve programs
Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
Project Management Skills and Experience: Planning, executing, and closing projects effectively.
