Hi Friends!
I hope you're all well and looking forward to the holiday season. We have a lot to celebrate this month! We successfully wrapped up our Long Distance Learning campaign - surpassing our fundraising goal and ensuring that we have the resources to provide our long-distance learning program through November! We can't thank you enough for your continued generosity and commitment to supporting our work.
Looking forward we have a #GivingTuesday campaign that will launch next month in support of our Scholarship Programs. There are rumblings that school will resume in the new year and we want to be prepared for that. Fingers crossed! And finally, our 7th Annual Winter Gala will take place on December 17, 2021. As we continue to navigate the complex challenges of the pandemic, this event will be live-streamed for everyone to attend, and in-person for an intimate 75-person dinner. Stay tuned for details as they unfold.
Wishing you and yours a Happy Halloween weekend!
With gratitude,
Sarah Nininger and The Action in Africa Team

The Uganda-based AIA team is hard at work supporting our many programs, including interns, staff, and the community at-large. Some exciting happenings:
- On Friday October 29th the AIA leadership team will host a community vaccine education day! This event will be open to the community and will help people of the town by dispelling vaccine misinformation, and sharing factual information related to vaccination.
- Staff at The Center have resumed professional development computer classes and we're thrilled for them to back in the classroom.
- After months of COVID-related interruptions our interns are back on track and applying to university, which we're hoping will begin in January.

- We're excited to share the pictures above - they're worksheet pages from our recent long-distance learning program. Students were asked to complete a creative project and a mindfulness activity. We thought these were fun examples of the kind of creative, engaging work our students are completing through our long-distance learning program.

This is a busy time of year for Action in Africa's US-based team. With #GivingTuesday on November 30th, and our annual Winter Gala on December 17th we're working to make sure we end 2021 with great success.
Set your clocks for #GivingTuesday on 11/30 - this annual day of philanthropy that will support AIA's Secondary Scholarship Program. Each scholarship is a 6-year commitment to every student in the program, and AIA invests $5,000 per student to see them through the completion of what we in the states know as high school. With 54 students enrolled and 30 new students each year this is one of AIA's most effective - yet costly - programs.
On December 17th, we will have our Annual Winter Gala. This event, which after 7 years has become a beloved annual tradition, will not be as big as it has been in the past (for COVID-related safety reasons), yet it will be our first opportunity to get together since 2019, and we're looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it. You'll want to grab your tickets early! Details below.
