University Alumni Reunion

Do what you love, and you will make the best of things. If you do what you love, it will always be easy for you. But if you choose a field you don’t love and don’t have interest in, everything will be a struggle. So really think about what your dream and goal is.

Annually, we grant five exceptional graduates of our Secondary Scholarship Program a prestigious full-ride university scholarship, which allows them to attend the accredited university of their choice. This comprehensive scholarship not only covers their tuition throughout their academic journey but also includes a laptop and monthly stipend to support their living expenses.

On Saturday, we gathered our alumni group together for a reunion and learned about their continuing achievements and efforts to give back to their community. Most of our graduates were able to attend, boasting career paths such as a civil engineer, an accountant, a general practitioner, a lawyer, a social worker, an AIA programs aid and AIA fellows. One alumni took the opportunity to announce that she’s going to become a mother soon!

The group reminisced on afternoons spent at The Center. Many of their favorite memories surrounded the Porridge Program—seeing their friends jump in line on the program’s first day and later becoming responsible enough to help serve the little ones. They had a formal Q and A to not only improve the program for current University Scholarship Students, but to brainstorm on how they can support Nakuwadde themselves.
