Partner Spotlight: Construction for Change + Action in Africa
Today we’re showcasing Construction for Change (CFC), an international nonprofit based in Seattle, USA.
With their support, we’ve started construction on a brand-new multipurpose dining hall and kitchen at The Center in Nakuwadde. Once completed in early May 2025, this space will serve hundreds of students, staff, and community members every single day, providing nutritious meals and a communal hub for connection.
Outgrowing our current kitchen prompted the construction, but our partners at MASS Design Group created an elevated vision for CFC to construct. In addition to expanded storage and an upgraded stove, we’re excited to offer an outdoor handwashing station, and a dedicated porridge serving counter.
The CFC team brings deep expertise in construction and contract administration, with a mission rooted in supporting nonprofits like ours. As CFC's Project Manager in Uganda, Lillian Namugaya is leading the charge on-site. With a background in architecture and years of experience in both design and construction management, Lillian is playing a critical role in ensuring this project runs smoothly and efficiently. She works closely with our team and contractors to monitor progress and uphold the highest standards in every phase of development.
And this is just the beginning.
CFC plans to continue partnering with us as we grow and expand, including supporting the developments at our future campus in Sentema, Uganda. Together, we’re delivering a shared mission of creating spaces that truly serve and empower under-resourced communities. We’re beyond grateful to CfC for their dedication to our mission, and to donors like you who make partnerships like this possible.
“Construction for Change does more than build structures,” Namugaya shared. “They build opportunity. And Action in Africa is the perfect example of what’s possible when infrastructure meets impact.”
A huge shoutout to these good folks for standing beside us as we continue building this new kitchen, allowing us to continue providing nutritious meals in a safe, efficient space for anyone in need. A special thanks to our friends at Kershaw’s Challenge for funding this critical project.
