Happy International Women's Day!
Join us today as we celebrate the remarkable women in our lives!

There are dozens of women we admire in the AIA community, and if we shared each of their stories this email would be very, very long. So we've decided to share a little bit about one woman in particular, Nabulime Gloria. Gloria is the first (but hopefully not the last), to embark on an exciting new journey with Action in Africa, one that will see her transition from being an Action in Africa student to an Action in Africa employee.

Join us below on a short journey through Gloria's life because we think she's pretty special!
Gloria joined the Action in Africa community over 10 years ago, back in her primary school days. Since those early days, she has been a secondary scholarship recipient, intern, and university scholarship student. A lifelong love of learning and a desire to work with women and children led her to pursue a degree in social work, which she earned last year from Kampala International University.

Upon graduation, Gloria began her career as a Social Worker at an organization working to rehabilitate children on the streets of Kampala, by taking them back to their communities and helping them enroll back into school. She found this work rewarding, but she jumped at the chance to join the Action in Africa team when she heard we were hiring.

We are thrilled to share that on Monday Gloria officially joined the Action in Africa team as a full-time Education Programs Aide, supporting the Education Programs Coordinator with the various programs based on-site at The Center.
You may have heard us say that we believe by eliminating the barriers to education we raise healthier children and, ultimately, adults with greater economic prospects. Gloria is an example of this philosophy. She shows us the life-changing magic that happens when opportunity meets dedication, and how AIA's work can end the cycle of poverty by empowering the individuals of the community to become the next generation of leaders in East Africa and beyond. We see Gloria's return to AIA as a testament to the power of investing in women and girls!
