Journey to University: Trecy

My name is Nankabirwa Trecy. I have been in the Action in Africa Secondary School Scholarship program for the past six years. I finished high school in 2022 and thanks to AIA, I’m going to university to study Human Resource Management at Makerere University. My journey with AIA has been full of interesting, educational, and fun experiences.

I can’t say enough about the AIA programs, especially the creative ones like art classes where we made crafts like bangles and decorations, and the Western and traditional dance dancing classes. I may not be the best dancer, but I loved attending these classes.

I feel very lucky because this year, I was selected to join the university scholarship program which is a dream come true. I will be able to join the university to pursue my education at the highest level and increase my chances of obtaining a good job. This is what I have always wished for so that I can help my parents and siblings have a happy life.

The internship at Action in Africa has exposed me to a lot of professional experiences while working with the AIA staff. They have been so great to us and very supportive. Life at The Center has been so wonderful. I  got a chance to acquire new skills like computer skills, social skills, and leadership skills through the sessions we’ve had. This has really enabled me to turn my weaknesses into strengths and prepared me for the real world.

I am thankful for Action in Africa’s support for my education. As they say, education is the key to success. I am really looking forward to using this scholarship to study hard and make my dreams come true. I will never forget Action in Africa. It has been a great family for me that has enabled me to realize my academic goals. University education gives me a chance to have even bigger goals in life and I am very eager to achieve them. Thank you Action in Africa and I pray that you continue supporting the dreams of the children of Nakuwadde.
