Happy November, friends!
First and foremost we hope that this finds you healthy and well. This year has been tough on all of us and we hope you're looking forward to a safe, socially distant holiday season with loved ones. Despite the challenges this year has presented, we've got a lot to look forward to over the next few weeks and we hope you'll join us as we celebrate the end of 2020 and all the great work left to do in Uganda!

The next four weeks are jammed packed for Action in Africa. We have Giving Tuesday on December 1, and our 6th annual but first-ever virtual winter fundraiser on December 19! There are no shortage of ways to be involved and help us in our mission to provide food and education for children, salaries and support for teachers, and resources for the most vulnerable families in Nakuwadde.
In addition to all of these great opportunities, our Junior Advisory Board had their first meeting on November 13th, a fun and productive workshop attended by some of Action In Africa's most loyal supporters. We look forward to working with this dynamic group of people. If you're interested in learning more about our Junior Advisory board, please email us at hello@actioninafrica.com.
Finally, the Action In Africa high school clubs have been thriving despite challenges related to COVID-19, and they'll play a big role in our Giving Tuesday campaign. Each club is working hard to help us reach our $15,000 to unlock a matching gift of another $15,000 from an anonymous donor. If one of these special clubs is in your home town (or state), please consider helping their fundraiser this Giving Tuesday!

We hope you'll join us on 12/19 for our annual but virtual winter fundraiser! Where we'll "gather" for cocktail hour, the premiere of our new video series - the Changemakers, a silent auction, and a SPECIAL performance by Coldplay's Chris Martin!

It gives us great pleasure to share that with extensive safety protocols in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, our scholarship students have returned to the center on a hybrid schedule since schools are still closed. AIA's scholarship students are secondary students between the ages of 12 - 21 years old and are using the center to work on academic packages, read from the library, participate in creative programs and meet with our social worker. They are thrilled to be back in community with each other and at the center!
Let's be pals! Rather, let's be pen pals! We've launched a new penpal program for students ages 13-21. If you are a teacher or parent who would like to work with us to implement this program with your students we'd love to be in touch! Please fill out the interest form here.
Finally, we're excited to share that the AIA family has recently grown! Our Director of Adult Education, Juliana, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Josiah, on November 2nd! Mother and baby are healthy and well.
