Weekly Good News: September 1

Welcome to Weekly Good News, a new series that will highlight one or two of the great things happening on-the-ground in Nakuwadde each week. With so much negativity, uncertainty, and darkness in the world we are excited to seek out and share some good news. Some weeks it might be big news, other weeks it may simply be a quick update. Regardless of the magnitude we hope these stories remind us all that there is still good among us.

This week’s Good News: Nakayaga Shadiah (above left), and Nakawuki Sumayya (above right), were recently nominated and elected to leadership roles with the Youth Leadership Council of Nakuwadde. Both young women are graduates of Action In Africa’s Secondary Scholarship Program, and have been involved with Action In Africa for several years. Shadiah is currently in our University Scholarship Program, and Sumayya is currently part of our Internship Program. Sumayya is the newly sworn-in General Secretary, and Shadiah is the new Secretary for the Women’s Affairs Committee of the Youth Leadership Council of Nakuwadde.

When asked what excites them most about this new opportunity, they told us they’re excited to affect change by working with community leaders to bring new, innovative ideas to the fore. We couldn’t be more proud to have such smart, ambitious women working in the community and representing Action In Africa. Congratulations Sumayya & Shadia!
