Happy November! Since our last email, which focused heavily on events here in the US, we've had so many wonderful things happening at The Center in Uganda. From celebrating Primary 7 students completing their journey with AIA's Primary Partnership Program and getting ready for Secondary School, to chess lessons and student leadership elections there has been great activity in Uganda!

And here in the states, we're getting ready to launch and exciting new #GivingTuesday campaign and to host our 9th Annual Winter Fundraiser at the MOLLIE in Aspen. Read below to find out about the recent programs in Nakuwadde, and how you can be a part of our end-of-year giving campaign to support our life-changing work at The Center.

Last week the AIA team led a send-off celebration for all the Primary Partnership Program P7 students (several pictured above)! This week the students are sitting for the exams that will admit them to Secondary School, and the team decided to mark the transition with a celebration. The mamas prepared a meal for everyone and the students were each given a mathematical set, two pens and a pencil. The female students also received a hygiene kit. These supplies are provided to help students successfully complete their primary leaving exams. 30 of the PPP students will be accepted into AIA's Secondary Scholarship Program. We wish them all good luck on their exams and their future academic pursuits!

Above and on the right you'll see Teacher Juliana with a student Niwahereza Anitah (left) at the Central College School who participated in the ceremonies to inaugurate new student leaders! Here Anitah accepts a certificate honoring her role as Liturgy Prefect for the 2022-2023 school year. We're so proud of all our students leaders for their hard work and dedication at school - they are remarkable representatives of Action in Africa's work in the community.

Check mate! The team in Uganda recently introduced chess instruction as part of After School Program. The sessions are led every Wednesday by university student and AIA alumnus Damulira Musa. As you can see, so far the program has been very popular!
2023 has been a transformative year for Action in Africa. We've welcomed a new Country Director in Uganda, have an entirely new Board of Directors, and we recently welcomed a new Operations Manager, Kareece Sacco, here in the US!

Kareece holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Texas, and since graduating she has focused her career on nonprofit organizational development. Before joining AIA, Ms. Sacco worked as the Executive Director of Well Aware, building wells in Kenya.  Kareece began as an Operations Consultant for AIA, and has since joined our team as the full time Operations Manager. Her expertise guides executive-level planning, with particular emphasis on administrative and operational systems. We are so happy she's here!

If you want to join Kareece and our growing team, visit our website using the link below to see all open positions.
