Where Art Meets Philanthropy

Celebrating Cornelia Carpenter’s support

At Action in Africa, we’re constantly amazed by the generosity and talent of our supporters. Today, we’re thrilled to highlight the incredible work of artist Cornelia Carpenter, whose collaboration this year brought a new level of creativity to our mission.

Her work not only celebrates what we’ve achieved but also sets the stage for an exciting new chapter. Cornelia designed a stunning map of Uganda, showcasing our 10-year-old campus and community center in Nakuwadde and our dreams for what our plot of land in Sentema will become in the coming years.

Cornelia skillfully blended watercolor artistry with digital illustration. She crafted the map in layers, starting with rich greens and blues to capture Uganda’s lush landscape, then adding digital line drawings and other intricate details. The result is a vibrant, polished map where our Nakuwadde and Sentema campuses take center stage, symbolizing the heart of our work.

As the Sentema campus becomes a reality, we’re gearing up for a capital campaign to fund its full development. Cornelia’s map will play a pivotal role in this effort, helping us share our vision and inspire others to join us in creating a community center that will impact generations to come in an underserved region of Uganda.

Her connection to Action in Africa is especially meaningful. Our Executive Director, Sarah Nininger, has known Cornelia for years and has been a proud witness to her artistic journey. Seeing Cornelia’s talents align with our mission has been a full-circle moment for everyone involved.

We invite you to explore Cornelia’s breathtaking work and learn more about her creative process by visiting her website at Cornelia's website. Her dedication to using art as a tool for storytelling and impact inspires us all.

Thank you, Cornelia, for capturing the heart of our mission and helping us bring the Sentema campus to life. Your artistry will inspire our community as we work together to achieve big dreams for the future.
